Mark Sofonio, M.D., of Sofonio Plastic Surgery Center, in Rancho Mirage, California, says liposuction can be performed almost anywhere on the body that we have extra fatty deposits. He says liposuction is most commonly done on the lower abdomen and upper abdomen. Dr. Sofonio explains fat removal through liposuction is permanent and once you remove fat cells in that area, you will no longer gain new fat cells there.
